    This is an automatic encoder feedback drilling machine we engineered, designed, and manufactured for a local railroad equipment manufacturer. This drilling machine automatically clamps, orients the part, and sends it into the machining envelope to be processed. A (HMI) Human to Machine Interface was provided by which the operator can instantly program the rapid point, drilling depth, when the coolant turns on, and when it will turn off. We also offered a canned cycle program which allows the operator to execute a specific program every time the cycle start button is depressed. This drilling machine is equipped with load cell sensors to monitor tool sharpness and to monitor chips that may become compacted in the hole. If the load reaches an operator specified level, it will retract the tool and alert the operator via the interface. Previously these assemblies were taken out of their clean room, loaded into a cnc machine for drilling, and then taken back to the clean room for final assembly. Having this machine remain in the clean room, saves handling time, damage caused by transit, and allows the use of their cnc mill to machine in a more cost effective manner.
